Tournament Summary

League 1 we started 5th in Dusk but finished 3rd moving us up to Copper for League 2! Fresno was a good tournament for us, we played some tough teams really well! Winning, our pool without going 3 sets! The defense was moving much better and the offense was playing smart. It was really fun to see us playing to our potential.

What went well...

  • Everything! Lol!
  • Our middles executed really well, which couldn't have happened without good passing
  • Serving we made fewer errors our Serve % went up from 88.1% in AZ to 91.3 percent, but our Ace % went down from 15.7% to 13.3. As expected, if you serve to get in you will give up a few aces. The goal for Aces is to be above 15%
  • Our sideout percentage went up to 53% from 49.8, but our Serve Receive Rating went down, so we are either getting points from the serving errors or we are doing better at out of system passing. From what I saw we are doing better at setting to the net when the passes are off, and we are running back row hits as an option not forcing the set to the front. All good improvements!
  • We are blocking and touching way more balls!

Stat Leaders

  • Our Top Hitters: Hunter led with .175 Hitting % with 13 kills and 3 errors, Stephanie had 29 kills and H% of .154, Meera had a great tournament with 9 kills and a hitting percentage of .143
  • Our top servers: Chloe and Izzy 2.5 Srtg, Izzy had 7 serves, Stephanie and Sydney 6 each
  • Receive leaders: Birthday girl Maddy passed 1.77, Steph 1.47, and Sydney and Haley 1.3

What we can improve on...

  • I want serving to reach 15% for Aces and keep our errors under 8%
  • Our hitting efficiency although better we should try to reach the .150 as a team, no players in the negative (we had 1)
  • Hitting the floor, we watch too many balls without diving and trying. When we do dive and scramble we win the point more than we lose the point. Relentless pursuit!
  • Blocking, we are touching more balls because we are keeping our hands up more, but there are times we are dropping hands and are late getting up.
  • Serve Receive passing dropped from 1.47 to 1.3, as a team we want to be above 1.5. Our error percentage is 30% meaning we are aced 30% of the time, in Arizona it was 24%. I like to have it under 15%.

Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.

Team Homework...
