Tournament Summary

Power League 3 we started 8th seed in Copper. Going into the final league tournament we had goals of at a minimum stay in Copper, but we wanted to try to get into Blue. We didn't make it to blue, but we did improve to seed 5 in Copper. We beat Legends which we have lost to twice thus far, so that was a big win (and we didn't have to ref!)

What went well...

  • We served well!
    • As a team we met our goal of serving with an error percentage less than 8%, we served 93.7% in (6.3% errors!)
    • The other serving goal is to have 15% aces. W have 17 aces/143 attempts for 11.8% aces! We are so close! Only 4 more aces and we would have met our goal!
    • Chloe had her best and the teams best serve rating for the day with a 2.64 serve rating! Nice work!
    • Stephanie led with 6 aces and had a 2.63 serve rating! :)
  • Offensive Plays!
    • We are adding more diversity to the offense running 3's
    • We ran a 3-2 aka rip on the freeball play

What we can improve on...

  • Serve Receive
    • The goal is to pass a 1.5 rating or better as a team, we were 1.39.
    • Another goal is to have a serve error less than 15%, we had 38 errors/148 passes, which is 25.6% error rating. So we would like to improves this by 10%
    • The communication before the serve is still needing to be more consistent
  • Hitting
    • Our goal is to be .150 as a team and we were .020, we need to hit the ball in more and get a lot more kills!
    • Our hitting error % was 17.9 and the goal is to be under 15% errors. Not far from the goal, but with only 60 kills we need fewer errors to reach our goal.
  • Freeball plays
    • Everyone needs to recognize the freeball sooner and transition quicker
    • Middle back needs to cover the right back/setter area and right front needs to drop in and off quicker to help with right front short balls
    • Run the offense! Know what you are going to run and run it!

Success is no accident. It is HARD WORK, PERSEVERANCE, LEARNING, STUDYING, SACRIFICE and most of all, LOVE of what you are doing or learning to do.

Team Homework...

  • Review a game from this past weekend and provide game analysis by Monday 4/8 (should take 1 hour)
  • Game analysis sheet
