Jr far Westerns National Qualifier - bid winners!
Congratulations to the 17 Titans who finished 2nd in the USA division at the Jr Far Westerns tournament on January 11-12. This group of 10 achieved what no other Aspire team has done by earning a bid to the Boys Junior National Qualifiers in Reno this summer.
Finishing second and winning the medal is quite an accomplishment, but to achieve this in just our 2nd Boys Club season makes it even more impressive. We competed against clubs who have teams who have played many years together and or play high school together. Our roster of 10 players from 6 different schools have only played together for a year and some just joined 5 months ago. Just shows you that chemistry, trust and hard work can overcome anything or anyone!
As a coach, I knew they could do it. They have a special bond on and off the court, they work hard and are very talented. We faced some very tough opponents over the weekend, even lost 2 first sets. But the keys for us were to stay positive and work hard! Our mental toughness, team work and strong desire to win helped us persevere and win tough matches after losing the first set to BAVC and Red Rock. Hustle, hit, never quit!
