(2-4)

13 Black went 2-4 at the President's Day Tournament. Our team started at seed 18 and ended at seed 37. 13 Black competed against very talented teams, and although we did not always find our successes reflected on the scoreboard, each player showed great improvements in technique and resiliency. The highlight of the weekend was coming back from behind to win a set 30-28!!

We started out strong with 3-0 on the first day and kept our 58 seed. We battled some tough teams in day two and weren't able to hold our seed unfortunately but came back to win all of bracket play on day three! Despite the up and down weekend, the girls managed to hold a 91% on serving efficiency! The girls grew tremendously this weekend and ultimately played better together due to the tough losses. We are looking forward to learning new material at practices and are ready to work hard to move up.

What a hard fought tournament from 14 Pink! We started off 0-3 the first day in a very tough pool, but then bounced back over the next two days going 3-2. With these wins, we moved up from our original seed of 138 to 135, working hard and having fun the entire time. Our ball control, transitions, and offense are really improving and it’s fun to watch. Can’t wait to get back in the gym and improve even more for next tournament!

This was our first big tournament and girls has definitely learned something from it. On our first day, we played against many big competitive teams and definitely started rough. The girls struggled with the changes since we were missing a player, and two players on our second day total of 7 girls with no subs. However, the girls never gave up and we finally took the set tied into third set from our “rival team” in the last match the second day. Throughout this tournament, I saw many surprising plays and dramatic improvement in each of the girls. Even though we didn’t win any games, these losses were very meaningful and we definitely learned many important lessons throughout this tournament. We are definitely coming for the come back the next tournament!

Everyone was so pumped up, great energy, our offense was much much better with switching up attacks, and our defense was on it. It was literally just a back and forth game, both sets. Our passing was just off and their hits were way harder and faster than ours.  I took stats, we had a good amount of aces.  Our serving was on point, which is a huge step up for our team. Going into practice this week we will continue to work hard and try to improve all of our weaknesses.

18 Black

29th

(0-5)

Another fun, yet tough weekend for 18 Black. There were some small victories though! We took the top seed in our pool to overtime, and then beat them in a set! We took our last match to three sets as well, coming within only 3 points of a victory. Our 29th place finish doesn't reflect all the hard work we've put in.  We will continue to work on in-system plays, as control is our ultimate goal.  We'll also work more on digging and defense, as reading the hitters wasn't something we were great at this weekend. We have three practices before league 1, so we have work to do!
