13 Black went 1-3 at the League 1 Tournament in Watsonville. Our team started at seed 28 and ended at seed 32. 13 Black competed to preserve our spot in the Bronze Division, a resilient feat with only 8 players! Players stepped up and owned their roles (in new and familiar positions). The team surpassed the goal of 10 kills to the "donut", by playing "smarter not always harder"--earning 12 kills and donuts at practice!

Super proud of the girls this weekend. We were undefeated until our very last match of the day. The girls spent all of their time off playing games to bond and it showed on the court. We have now moved up from Dusk to Copper. Looking forward to progressing further next tournament.

Aspire 16 Black came in as the 63 seed and left as the 65 seed even though the team went 3-1 on the day.  It was the first time all season Aspire 16 Black dropped in seeding and was more of an issue of losing the wrong match. Aspire 16 Black came out flat in the first set of the day, but from that point on played very inspired volleyball to consistently win matches. The teams character is that they are never out of it as evidenced by coming back from being down.  All day long Aspire 16 Black served tough against their opponents, and continued improvement on defense that kept them in matches when down.  The serving, setting and play on the pins were all positives. The focus this week and next leading up to their league 2 tournament will be on improved play from the middles and stronger transitional hitting.
