James will start his 25th year of teaching in the fall of 2021.

His first volleyball coaching job was in 1990 and has coached volleyball for countless teams as an assistant or a head coach at levels ranging from 5th grade to community college.

This is James' 7th team with the Aspire Volleyball Club. He was the coach for Aspire's first Co-ed team. and several girls' teams. 

Before coaching for Aspire, James has coached teams for several volleyball clubs, as well as various high schools and middle schools.

In addition, James coached wrestling for 22 years and also coached 9 seasons of recreational youth soccer. James currently referees , High School Wrestling, and Mixed Martial Arts.

James played for the West Valley Community College Men's Volleyball team in the last years of the program in 1993 & 1994.  James played a ton of grass volleyball where he met his wife, Valerie, and has recently started playing again. 

Both Valerie & James currently play recreational co-ed indoor and pick up sand.

James has earned some accolades as a professional Mixed Martial Artist, competing and winning championships for several minor MMA organizations.
