We are a team not because we work together, We are a team because we trust, respect and care for each other.

Our practice principles build the winning culture in our team and club. We all need to buy into the principles we are striving to attain. Without 100% commitment to the common goal, none of us will succeed.

PRINCIPLES

  1. We Value Effort: Working hard is the first step toward achieving goals. Regardless of the result we value the effort players are making to be better

  2. We focus on the Process not the Result: To Aspire to be better,  means we will fail, but FAIL means it is the First Action In Learning, trust the process and don’t focus on the result.

  3. We will be Humble and Kind: Through peaks and valleys we stay emotionally level. During the highs we will stay humble and not boast, in the lows we will stay kind to our teammates showing a positive mentality.

  4. We Before Me: The ‘We before Me’ mentality is a shared responsibility and credit for the play on the court. A selfless teammate will share the glory and take the blame, a selfish player will point the blame and take the credit.

  5. We strive to be better by 1% each day: Each day we focus on small things, just 1% better each day we will be 37% better in a year. The small things we do add up to be big things.

HOW PLAYERS DEMONSTRATE THE PRINCIPLES

  1. Make an Effort: Players show up 15 minutes early, be good listeners, help set up and take down, work hard in the drills to apply what the coaches are asking of you.

  2. Focus on the Process not the Result: Players being less concerned about the score or outcome and more concerned about what they are doing during the process. Volleyball is a journey, not a destination. Success is a journey not a destination. The doing is usually more important than the outcome. Not everyone can be Number 1.

  3. Humble and Kind: The good sport is gracious in defeat and humble in victory. We will face losses with grace and dignity. And through challenging times we will stay positive and kind to teammates. We will be grateful and showing gratitude by thanking officials, parents, and coaches whenever you can. Our cheers will be for our team, not against the other team.

  4. We before me: Sharing the credit with your teammates, when you get an overpass kill because your server served a tough ball, give them some credit. When you get a kill because the middle held the block, give them some credit. Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much!

  5. 1% better each day: Players will stay dedicated and focused on making the smallest improvements each day. We develop discipline that will help move us incrementally forward. Slow and steady will win the race.
